Ruta Graveolens

Scientific studies validate the effectiveness of rue as an antispasmodic. There is little or no evidence, however, to support the plan'ts efficacy in bringing on menstruation or in suppressing coughs - two of its common uses in modern herbal medicine.

Rue may cause mild poisoning. Even handling the fresh leaves may cause the skin to blister. Pregnant women especially should not take it internally.
