Indian Pink

Spigelia Marilandica

Decoctions, or extracts, of the root expel intestinal worms, but are no longer used in official medicine because the plant contains the toxic alkaloid spigeline. Indian pink was listed in the U.S. Pharmacopeia from 1840 until 1926.

Do not take internally. An overdose can be fatal.
