Agropyron Repens
Couch Grass is known in pharmacology as triticum (the latin name for wheat) because it contains the carbohydrate triticin. The plant has been useful as cattle fodder, a coffee substitute, and an emergency ration. Although couch grass tea may be recommended by herbalists for its soothing effects on the urinary tract, this use is questioned by scientists; moreover, the safety of drinking the tea has hot been proved.
