Nepeta Cataria

Chewing catnip leaves has long been a folk remedy for toothache. Catnip tea has also been used to relieve intestinal cramps, ininfant's colic, and gas pains; and the juice from the leaves was used to stimulate menstrual flow. Some evidence exists that catnip acts as an antispasmodic and a caminative, relieving flatulence. there is good experimental evidence in nonfeline animals for its use as a mild sedative for the relief of insomnia.
